By BBCO
Katie is a registered architect whose impact at BBCO goes far beyond design. She brings thoughtfulness, reliability, and a strong sense of purpose to every aspect of her work. From leading community initiatives like Parking Day and volunteering, to co-chairing the Fun Committee, captain of the BBCO volleyball team, and biking to work year-round, Katie lives her values—especially when it comes to sustainability. She’s also taking on a no-buy year (and sticking with it!), showing the same follow-through she brings to every project.
We caught up with Katie to hear more about her favorite projects, creative fuel, and hopes for the future of the profession.
Can you tell us about a project you’re most proud of and why?
“Tuttle Park Pool Bathhouse—it was my first project at BBCO.”
What’s your go-to creative fuel?
“Matcha, Miley Cyrus’ Plastic Hearts album, time in the outdoors.”
What advice would you give to someone just starting out in the field?
“Be proactive, take initiative—chances are someone will support you.”
If you weren’t an architect, what would you be?
“A professional soccer player—or maybe an animator if that didn’t work out.”
How do you hope to see the industry evolve in the next 5 years?
“I’d like to see architects—and our clients—take sustainability seriously, even if it comes at a higher initial cost.”
Katie’s passion for long-term impact is part of what makes her perspective so valuable. She’s constantly thinking about how design can do better—for both people and the planet. Whether she’s shaping a project, planning a community event, or finding new ways to live more intentionally, Katie leads by example—and we’re better for it.
