We’re proud to unveil the new AEP Ohio Foundation STEM Leadership Center + CK Construction Maker Space for the Girl Scouts of Ohio’s Heartland. This one-of-a-kind facility is designed to spark curiosity, build confidence, and create future leaders.
Located just outside Columbus, this 25,500-SF building anchors the new Dream Big STEM Campus, giving Girl Scouts from across the region a place to explore science, technology, engineering, and math through immersive, hands-on learning.
BBCO worked closely with GSOH to bring their vision to life—designing a flexible, sustainable, and light-filled space that supports everything from robotics workshops and wet science labs to group retreats and outdoor learning. The building itself is a teaching tool, featuring visible systems and sustainable materials that reinforce the Girl Scouts’ commitment to environmental stewardship.
This project is deeply aligned with our mission at BBCO: to design with purpose and create spaces that empower people and communities.
One of the most playful and unexpected elements in the building? The elevator, which takes inspiration from the classic Girl Scout cookie box, an idea dreamed up by BBCO’s co-founder, COO, and project design lead, Bharat Baste.
“We wanted to create moments of surprise that connect directly to the spirit of Girl Scouts,” said Baste. “The cookie box elevator is fun, familiar, and instantly iconic; it’s a reminder that learning and joy go hand in hand.”
