By BBCO
At BBCO, creativity and collaboration are at the heart of everything we do, and team members like Ezgi Janicek bring that philosophy to life every day. Originally from İzmir, Turkey, Ezgi brings a global perspective and a thoughtful approach to every project she touches. As an architect with a passion for sustainability, design integrity, and joyful collaboration, she approaches her work with intention and curiosity. She’s always the first to lend a hand, share her expertise, or offer a thoughtful suggestion, whether it’s a design detail, a new tea blend, or a fun treat to try. Her perspective blends a love of learning with an appreciation for humor and balance, reminding us that great work and good energy go hand in hand.
What do you love most about working at BBCO?
What I love most about working at BBCO is being part of a team that truly lives its philosophy—creating sustainable, sound, and inspiring spaces while embracing the idea that less is everything. The culture is supportive and balanced; we challenge ourselves to grow every day while keeping things friendly and fun. It’s a place where learning, creativity, and a few dorky jokes go hand in hand.
What’s one thing you’ve learned in your career that you think everyone should know?
The most significant lesson I’ve learned throughout my career is the profound impact of attitude and organizational culture. While continuous knowledge improvement is certainly necessary, it will always be easier to teach an intelligent person a new skill than it is to adjust a poor attitude or cultivate a belief in the company’s core philosophy. I’ve observed various office setups, and what truly makes an organization successful is an environment where the team’s values and conduct are aligned. I appreciate how seriously BBCO takes this. It proves that a well-defined and intentional culture is the most valuable and enduring asset a business can have.
What makes a BBCO project different?
What makes a BBCO project different is our commitment to collective responsibility and uncompromising standards. We have high standards, and we take deep pride in that. Every project is handled with a strong sense of responsibility, not just to our clients, but to our team as well. This isn’t about individual achievement; it’s about being a representative for everyone here. That shared commitment is what consistently pushes us to go the extra mile, maintain our high standards, and truly excel.
If you weren’t an architect, what would you be?
I would definitely be a gardener! I find nature to be the most peaceful and creative place. Whether I’m observing a bird or checking the growth of my plants, time simply melts away. It’s a profession that shares the core appeal of architecture: shaping an environment, nurturing something from concept to reality, and creating a lasting, beautiful space for people (or wildlife) to enjoy.
What’s your go-to creative fuel?
Coffee and tea throughout the day! I love listening to 90s alternative rock or 90s Turkish pop music while I need to focus. #90sforever
