Jeffrey Park Community Center

The community center building for Jeffrey Park development houses a fitness center, community gathering spaces, offices and a speciality restaurant coupled with a pool & pool deck areas. The developers wished to pay homage to the large Jeffrey Mining Company that had occupied the site of this development for several decades. The Jeffrey Mining Company specialized in manufacturing mining equipment that automated the manual under-cutting method deployed by miners in the late 19th century. They were also famous for manufacturing and supplying drive chains to other industries.

BBCO designed a building that features a dark recessed base nestled between outcrops on the facade that terminate vertically into a series of industrial style light monitors. These recessed bases are reminiscent of the mining undercuts. The main facade of the building also features a 2 story screen wall built out of industrial drive chains.
